Caring for Your Cherished Possessions The Experts Guide to Cleaning, Preserving, and Protecting Your China, Silver, Furniture, Clothing, Paintings, and More

A practical guide to caring for cherished heirlooms, antiques, and other valuable possessions describes the best methods of cleaning, preserving, restoring, and protecting china, furniture, art, fabrics, and more. Original.

Levenstein and Biddle have gone through the whole house and give detailed instructions on how to care for virtually every possession in it--metals, photographs, ceramics, glass, rugs, clothing, textiles, quilts, furniture, and artwork. They stress preventative care--if the moths have arrived, it's too late. They cover mildew, stain removal, bleaching, carpet pile, wicker, leather, and bubble gum. There are lists of associations, museums, and conservationists to be contacted for more information, as well as a list of products and places to buy them. Much thought and care has gone into this book--respect and concern for special possessions is evident on each page. Handy to have.
