Blue cloth w/blue lettering and vignette. General wear. Corners, portion of edges, worn to boards. Ex-lib w/one stamp on title page, two on closed outside edges. Large sticker removal scar to front pastedown. DJ blurb pasted neatly to rear endpaper. Owner inscribed inside front cover, front endpaper, rear endpaper. Text clean and nice, tanned with age. Illustrated by Helen Blair. After the death of their parents, Kitty McKensie, her brother and sister, and little adopted Caroline, run away from home (and the threat of the younger children being sent to 'the Home') to a cottage on the Carolina coast.
