Add to basketAna Jotta and Ricardo Valentim: Al Cartio Papers; During a trip to Portugal in 1981, American artist Al Cartio lived in Lisbon at the residence of Ana Jotta. Over the course of several weeks, he spent with her, producing a diverse and substantial collection of writings, sketches, and several artworks. In May 2015, Jotta rediscovered these materials, which had been concealed away in a closet at her home. She collaborated with Ricardo Valentim to compile a publication that would present these papers and previously unseen documents by Cartio for the first time in a unique edition, thereby illuminating his artistic oeuvre. This edition is printed on Xerox paper and bound in a ring format. The cover and interior boards are handwritten by Ana Jotta. It includes the stapled page from the print shop that produced the edition. Limited to 10 copies, each copy is signed and housed in a custom engraved box. Some copies of this edition are located in private and public collections, such as the Gulbenkian Foundation and Maat, Lisbon. Privately published, 2015.
