FIRST EDITION, 1882. THREE VOLUME SET. This book comes from the library of Maurice Sendak. Sendak was a prominent author and illustrator of children's books best know for his book "Where the Wild Things Are".�He was a recipient of the Hans Christian Anderson Award for his lasting contribution to children's literature. Sendak was a collector of George MacDonald books. Like most of Sendak's books, this copy does not contain Sendak's bookplate but comes with a certificate from the auction firm which establishes the provenance of the book. Three volumes in the original brown cloth boards with a black border on the front cover.� Gilt text on the spine.� Volume 1 has a frontispiece. 334, 307 plus 32p of ads, 374 pp.�Shaberman 69. Minor wear at extremities and bumped corners.�Binding are solid.�Small stickers inside front covers but no names. Due to the size and weight of this set, an additional shipping charge may apply.
