The Catcher in the Rye.

"The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger. Published in hardback by Hamish Hamilton in 1951. First UK Edition. 253pp. SIGNED BY ENGLISH POET AND NOVELIST STEPHEN SPENDER. The book is in Good overall condition for its age. The binding is tight although the spine is slightly cocked with a resultant moderate shelf lean (see scan). The boards have no bowing. They are slightly age-discoloured and have sun fading to note at the head and tail of the spine. The page edge blocks are tanned from age. Internally the book is in Good Plus condition. It is clean and presentable with no annotations or foxing. The Spender signature is in pencil on the front endpaper. The dustjacket is also in Good condition. It is almost complete but suffers from slight loss to the head and tail of the spine and is price-clipped on the inner flap (which has a shop sticker on it (see scans). There are two very small areas of loss at the top junctions of the flaps plus a short closed tear on the rear panel. The spine area has a little sun-fading and slithers of superficial loss along the spine joint. The rear panel has light rubbing. The front panel has a crease in the top right-hand corner (see scans). The dustjacket is now protected by a 'Gaylord' removable see-through sleeve. Any questions, please just ask.…
