Sotheby's [45] pp. 2004 8 3/8" x 6 1/2" Cecil Beaton sold his studio archive to Sotheby s in 1977 since when it has been available for use as a picture library. The material had been indexed by Beaton s personal assistant, Eileen Hose, and in the centenary year of his birth, Sotheby s published this index for the first time, along with a summary of Beaton s diaries, with quotes and illustrations.
