Two volumes. First edition n English. A presentation copy with a signed and dated autograph message on Hedin's crested notepaper to his "dear Friend Captin Baker-Carr. with many hearty thanks for all kindness shown to me in Calcutta". The books are bound in burgundy cloth with gilt titles and illustrations on front boards, clean and bright having been kept in protective sleeves, volume II a little faded along the outer edge. Some light edge-wear only. Hinge firm, though webbing revealed along the edge between the free end papers. Beautifully illustrated with many fold-out maps, photos and drawings. Some discoloration to the lower closed page edges, upper edge gilt. Avery well preserved set. May incur additional postage charges overseas.
