This is a collection of 6 decorative ceramic platters & bowls designed by Sol LeWitt; edition size is unlimited (but this first edition is long sold out); the designs are based upon a limited edition of 28 that was commission for the MoMA design store in 1984; Reference from the book "International Multiples 1993": "Untitled 1984: five ceramic plates, black or blue on white glaze. 25 x 25 cm. edition 28."; each piece is made by hand by the same artisans who for generation have kept this proud and classic Italian tradition alive; on the back Sol LeWitt s signature is fired in the platters & bowls (not hand signed) in black or blue; the text on back of the platters & bowls read: " S. Lewitt. copyright 1984.Made in Leruta"; the large platters & bowls each have 10 star points but manufacturer says "Number of star points may vary." ; the smaller bowl has 8 star points; manufacturer says tableware is lead safe and ceramic pieces are not oven or microwave proof; it appears that all are very slightly varied in their sizes; THE DESCRIPTIONS: 1) Yellow round platter, signature & text on back printed in black, size 12-3/4 wide & 1-5/8in high, has 2 drilled holds on the back for hanging, with a glued paper label text description on back. 2) Blue round platter, signature & text on back printed in blue, size 12-5/8 wide at top & 1-3/4in high, no drilled holes. 3) Yellow round bowl, signature & text on back printed in blue, size: 12in wide at top & 4-1/4 in high, no paper label on back. 4) Blue round bowl, signature & text on back printed in black, size: 12in wide at top & 3-3/4in tall, with a glued paper label text description on back. 5) Black round platter, signature & text on back printed in blue, size: 13in wide & 1-3/4in high, 2 drilled holes on back, with a glued paper label text description on back. 6) Black small round bowl, signature & text on back printed in blue, size: 8in wide & 2-1/2in high, with a glued paper label text description on back. Conditions: in the middle front of the yellow bowl there are some faint cracks in the glazing but there is no evidence of cracks on the back's glazing; otherwise the other 5 pieces in VERY GOOD COND.
