Jarvis strode away from his house and up the beach, toward the burned-out villa that now dominated the landscape of the lower end of the island. This was now more than an operation that had gone awry. This was a personal vendetta. Chandler, a mere nothing of a person, had invaded Sidney Jarvis's world and had taken his possessions. He had taken Holly. He had taken the opportunity to sell the Tel-Ray system, and now he had taken his reputation as well. No one interferes with Sidney Jarvis and lives to tell about it, he fumed. This scientist will pay, and pay dearly!
