Strupp was distinguished professor emeritus in the department of psychology at Vanderbilt University and director of The Vanderbilt Center of Psychotherapy Research, which specializes in the study of time-limited dynamic psychotherapy. He is the author of Freud and Modern Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapists in Action among others.
