NICE PROVENANCE: a) from the library and with the dated signature (April 7, 1944) of Clinton Adams (1918 - 2002), American artist, painter, lithographer and and art historian, co-author of 'The Tamarind Book of Lithography', and author of 'American Lithographers'; b) From the library and with the signatures (on top and foredge) of Jan Stussy (1922-1990), noted artist and Academy Award-winning filmmaker. 'Stussy, a West Coast artist with works in many museums and private collections. was a former chairman of the art department at UCLA and the first artist to be appointed as a senior professor by the university. Although he was primarily known as a prolific painter, with some 5,000 works to his credit, Mr. Stussy frequently worked in other artistic arenas. ''Gravity Is My Enemy,'' a film he produced and directed, won an Academy Award in 1977 as best documentary' (New York Times).
