Biographical work illustrative of the life of Sir Roger Newdigate, English politician and collector of antiquities who is now best remembered as the founder of the Newdigate Prize. Covering from 1719 to 1806, this work contains the correspondence between Sir Roger and Lady Newdigate.With illustrations from family portraits. In the original publisher's full cream cloth binding with armorial gilt blind stamp to front board. Externally smart with minor shelf wear, few marks to boards, back strip darkened. Internally, firmly bound. Newspaper clippings loosely inserted by a previous owner caused minor offsetting to occasional leaf. Pages clean with some browning, as usual with the type of paper used. Light minor spotting affecting leaves of plates and protective tissue guard. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 837A47
