390 pages. The Child is Father of the Man is a moving story of fatherhood in the modern world written by the former head teacher of a British comprehensive school who is now President of the 21st Century Learning Initiative in Washington DC. This autobiography is an insider's account of evolving educational policy which includes that most formal schooling throughout the developed world is opposed to young people's natural creativity. This book moves towards a powerful conclusion which confirms faith in the equal partnership between home, community and school. assisted now by the new information and communication technologies.
