Chinese Harry Potter Box Set, Volumes 1-4 in Hardcover with Original Fold-Out Sleeve (2002): Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Cha

First Chinese edition in hardcover of the initial four Harry Potter books, published on January 1, 2002, by the People's Literature Publishing House. (Format: approximately 24 x 17.5 cm.) As far as we know, this was the only Chinese hardcover edition of the Harry Potter books until 2017, when a complete seven-volume box set with cover art by Olly Moss was released. The books come in an original fold-out "Famous Witches and Wizards" illustrated sleeve (format approx. 27 x 18 x 7 cm), which is fine condition. These volumes feature the American cover illustrations by Mary GrandPré and were issued without dust jackets. Each volume has uniquely illustrated endpapers, which are beautifully designed. This set, preserved in fine condition, represents a very rare and early Chinese hardback edition. An exceptional collector's piece.
