8vo. [6], vii-xii, [2], 3-171, [5] pp. Blue cloth with gold lettering and a gold decoration and a gold border on the front board, gold lettering on the spine. Blue endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a color frontispiece and with several in-text figures and double-sided plates of black and white photographs. A bookseller's ticket from Charles E. Lauriat and Co. of Boston on the free front endpaper, Lauriat was a long-running firm that bound and sold books. Foxing to the plates, a tiny stamp on the free front endpaper; jacket is price-clipped with a few small chips and light soiling to its spine panel.
