This is an extremely rare edition. J C J C Hotten was a publisher and bookseller, who died in 1873. His widow sold the company to Hotten's business manager; Andrew Chatto, who founded Chatto and Windus. Although the cover is detatched, the binding is good and the pages are clean with minor staining. There is no date, but advertising for books in 1873, together with Hotten's dates support this as the publication date.
