AS PICTURED : FIVE IMAGES. 1875 - An early impression of the first edition "Revised and Corrected by the Author". Substantial 8vo : pp xxv + 563 + 32 ads- A List of Books published by Chatto and Windus, October 1875. In original red cloth blocked gilt and ruled blind, as pictured. Externally showing some signs of use commensurate with age, but in predominantly pleasing condition - rubbed and with a few ink marks from handling, incipient small slits at spine head and tail, corners rubbed rather than bumped. No appreciable lean. Pages block edges dust-stained to top, cut irregularly at fore-edge. Contents in bright, clean condition and still almost entirely securely bound. Brown eps, frontis depicting Samuel L. Clemens (" MARK TWAIN") with original clean tissue-guard. A little, very minor, evidence of light foxing/staining to a few pages front and rear, but otherwise mercifully Foxing-free. Overall, an uncommonly tidy early copy. FREE P&P IN UK.
