With the ownership signature of Roy Fuller; loosely inserted a Royal Society of Literature invitation for 19 June 1968 (George Steiner to lecture on "Eros and Imagination"), with Fuller's notes (for a review?) on the verso. "Ruth Pitter . . . is what used to be called a 'scarce' poet, averse from publicity and striving always in her quiet, dedicated way to perfect the final expression of an ever-deepening poetic experience' (dustwrapper blurb). Roy Fuller tends to agree. Of her poem "In the Open" he notes, "one of few poets with message - one turns page in expectation of something being said".
