ix, 106 pp, 24 pp (Hebrew text). Original cloth. Very Good. Columbia University Oriental Studies Vol. XVIII. The 'most celebrated Jewish family chronicle of the period [it was completed in 1054]. . . . In his English translation Salzman was able to avoid most of the pitfalls of rhymed Hebrew prose and to present a wholly readable account. He added to it a careful analysis of the chronicle's contributions to our historical knowledge' (Salo Wittmayer Baron, A social and religious history of the Jews, 1958, p. 216, 432).
