New York: Robert M. De Witt, Publisher, 1860. First Edition. 12mo. 216pp. Illustrations throughout. Bound in publisher's wavy-grain cloth stamped in gilt; brown endpapers. Corners bumped; smudge to top of front board. Binding sound; remnants of bookplate to front pastedown; binder's ticket to rear pastedown; Very Good. Hazeltine wrote the chess column for the New York Clipper, and this work is the result of a series of chess problems he submitted to his readers, his so called "American problemists," with results, medals, and solutions included here. Scarce in retail.
