This mint unmarked copy is bound in cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine, tight, white, bright and square. The unclipped dust wrapper is in fine condition. A clipper was designed for a particular trade and to carry a specialised cargo, often accompanied by passengers, but always with the aim of achieving maximum speed. The cargo was frequently perishable of valuable and the ships that carried it could command high rates of freight. Lavishly illustrated throughout with photographs taken from private collections, many published here for the first time. There are also many scale drawings.
