First edition hard back binding in publisher's original navy cloth covered boards, blocked and lettered gilt back. 8vo. 9½'' x 6¼''. The author was the navigator in a Beaufort of No 217 Squadron which was shot down during the hunt for the Scharnhorst. He survived the crash, but was picked up by a German ship, and was soon incarcerated as POW. As an artist, he quickly became a forger of escape documents - and produced colour sketches, some of which are reproduced here. Contains (viii), 152 pp with colour illustrations and archive photographs throughout. Fine condition book in Fine condition dust wrapper, not price clipped.
