Oblong folios, pp xiv, 250 pp, xix, 92.The first volume is a color facsmilie of the codex itself, originally published by Ms Nuttall in 1903, also by the Univ. of California. It is an Aztec codex, done some years after the conquest of Mexico by Aztec scholars: the glyphs are annotated in Spanish. The content of the volume is religious and follows the Aztec calendar. The second volume is a scholarly commentary on the codex, bringing together all the relevant scholarship and linking the codex to an earlier codex which probably inspired the Tudela group of codices. The subtitle of the Boone volume is: "the Lost Prototype of the Magliabechiano Group."The name of the codex is taken from an earlier owner, the Italian collector Magliabecchino: the codex is held in the National Library in Florence. The volumes are bound in light brown papercovered boards w/orange-black illustrations on front and rear covers, in a slipcase. Cokndition is fine. Seller Inventory # 7471
