The surreal story of two boys, Hashi and Kiku, who were both abandoned by their mothers during infancy and locked in coin lockers at a Tokyo train station in the summer of 1972. Both boys become wards of a Catholic orphanage in Yokohama until they are adopted by foster parents, the Kuwayamas, who live on an island off Kyushu. Written by Ryu Murakami, a Japanese novelist, essayist and filmmaker. Best known for his works Almost Transparent Blue, Audition, Coin Locker Babies, and In the Miso Soup. Translated by Stephen Snyder, an American translator and professor of Japanese Studies at Middlebury College, Vermont. In the original card wraps. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Fine.
