An Age Like This: This first volume is drawn fromthe years when the author began to explore the life of the poor and was struggling to establish himself as a novelist and factual reporter. 1920-1940, 574 pages. There is a beginning separation at the inside of the front cover board that separates just over half of the first 3 pages. Light rubbing to the bottom of the board's edges. Volume 2: My Country Left of Right covers the years 1940-1943, 471 pages. There is a beginning separation at the inside of the front cover board. Volume 3: As I Please 1943-45, 435 pages. Overall, light shelf wear to all. All three are ex-library copies with clear mylar protective sleeves. Usual stamps and pockets. Dust jackets are all VG-. His essays are certainly some of the greatest in that most difficult genre.
