The definitive collection of the uncanny tales of Leslie Poles Hartley (1895-1972), British author, literary reviewer, novelist, and master of the macabre short story. He produced notable work from his first book, Night Fears (1924) and was a frequent contiributor to Lady Asquith's series of Ghost Books. With a biographical and critical introduction by Mark Valentine. This volume has been reprinted several times. Blak boards stamped in silver.
