Part III is a Syllabus for a course of study upon the preliminaries of the Present Conflict by Halford I. Hoskins. Part IV are Some Geographical Aspects of the War by Professor Harding and Professor W. E. Lingelbach (with maps). Part V is a Selected Critical Bibliography of Publications in English Related to the World War by Professor George M. Dutcher. Part VI are Statutes of the Untied States Relating to the State of War, and Part VII is Executive Proclamations and Orders from April 6, 1917 to April 10, 1918. This is one of the earliest works that attempted to create an academic framework for the study of the World War while it was still ongoing. Albert E. McKinley was the editor and publisher of The Historical Outlook (formerly the History Teacher's Magazine) and the first president of the National Council for Social Studies (established in 1921). War studies is a multidisciplinary field. Students explore the military, diplomatic, philosophical, social, political, psychological or economic dimensions of human conflict.
