The fighting forces of Rhodesia have a complex history, shaped by colonial rule, independence struggles, and military conflicts. Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, was home to various armed forces, including the Rhodesian Army, the British South Africa Police, and specialized units like the Selous Scouts. These forces played a significant role in the Rhodesian Bush War (1964 1979), a conflict between the white-minority government and nationalist guerrilla fighters. The present state of vigilance in Zimbabwe is vastly different from its Rhodesian past. The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) now serve as the country's military, comprising the Zimbabwe National Army and the Air Force of Zimbabwe. The security landscape has evolved, with modern challenges including political stability, regional security, and economic factors influencing military readiness. If you're interested in a detailed historical account, you might find this book insightful. Book (2) Men Who Ruled Kenya: The Kenya Administration 1892-1963.
