12mo. 25 (51) pages. Hardcover bound in brown cloth. Covers are rubbed. Signed and inscribed by Hugh T. Lefler on the front flyleaf. Lefler was a well known historian, author, and professor of history at UNC-Chapel Hill. Pencil marks throughout first part of text. Contains a frontis of St. Paul's Church in Edenton, North Carolina. This is a facsimile reprint of a work first printed in Newbern, North Carolina in 1753. Clement Hall (1706-1759) was from England and moved to North Carolina in 1731. He had a 104 acre plantation on the Perquimans River and was appointed a justice of the Perquimans County Court in 1739. He had a reputation of being an strong Christian and was convinced to become a local missionary for the Church of England in 1743. As he traveled about the colony, he came up with the idea for this book, and it was printed by James Davis in Newbern in 1753. It is believed to be the first non-legal book printed in North Carolina. This is a 1961 facsimile reprint of the 1753 book, which is exceedingly rare.…

Pages Past is a small used and antiquarian bookshop holding 10,000-15,000 volumes. We are located a few blocks from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Most of our books are hardback, although we have a few bookcases of paperbacks with recent fiction and classic literature represented. We also have a fairly good collection of Eastern Philosophy & Religion (Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism) as well as New Age. Most of these are recent paperbacks in nice condition. We have a good collection of antiquarian books in the fields of Americana, old leather bound books, and early religious and scholarly books. Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. We're closed on Sundays. We are always interested in buying quality books in very good condition.…
