Handsomely bound collection of Parts of 'Our Fathers Have Told Us' and 'Proserpina'. Half-leather and cloth. Gilt titling, ruling and decoration. Marbled page edges and endpapers. Binding in very good condition with minor rubbing. Gilt bright. Marbled top edges a little dulled but others bright. Paper slightly tanned with a hint of tobacco smoke. Foxing to front and back blanks, and first title page. Contents o/w clean with only very occasional marking. "Our Fathers Have Told Us": Part I- The Bible of Amiens. Published in parts, 1880-1883. Parts/Chapters I-IV complete with title pages for all chapters but without part V the Appendix. Preface. 3 illustrations by John Ruskin, engraved by G. Allen. 'The Bible of Amiens. Northern Porch before Resoration.'; 'Amiens. Jour des Trépassés. 1880.'; 'Amiens. Plan of West Porches' (fold-out). The first two have tissue-guards. 'Proserpina. Studies of Wayside Flowers While the Air was yet Pure among the Alps, and in the Scotland and England which my Father Knew.' Parts I-IV complete with title pages. Chapters I-X. Missing parts V-VI. Published in parts, 1875-76. Introduction. 5 full-page, tissue-guarded, engravings by G. Allen from drawings by John Ruskin; 5 full-page, tissue-guarded, woodcuts (Line-Studies) by Burgess from Ruskin's drawings; 23 woodcut figures in the text. A pleasing copy although an incomplete collection of parts. I also have 'Praeterita' in matching binding at the time of listing. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.
