Fine book block and case. Slipcase shows staining and scuffing, particularly around the edges, but the dark cloth successfully masks it to a casual observer. Limited edition; hand numbered 29. 159 pages. 12" x 12" in slipcase. From the introduction: "The fifty-nine pieces published in this book were chosen on the basis of two selection criteria, both representative of the eighteenth century approach to life: the rule and the exception. Some of the pieces were chosen because they are especially representative of the lavish and highly diversified production of the period; others because they are particularly unusual, rare or significant in relation to dating and attributions."
