First American Edition and first edition in English (originally in French). Same author as Carmen. Original brown cloth, blind stamped with decorative florals and rulings/borders. Black titling on spine. Basis for the 1950 film noir "Vendetta," written for the screen by W.R. Burnett and directed by Mel Ferrer. Book is tight, square and completely free of all markings inside.
