From A Colonial Garden: Ideas, Decorations, Recipes

Colonial Williamsburg's renowned gardens have always played a major role in the life of the town. Their beauty and bounty inspired this clearly written and illustrated entertaining and decorating guide.

Susan Hight Rountree, author of the popular Entertaining Ideas from Williamsburg and Christmas Decorations from Williamsburg, is a miniaturist and freelance designer. Inspired by the variety of plant materials in Colonial Williamsburg’s many gardens, Mrs. Rountree uses them, often in combination with favorite objects, to create unusual table settings and other decorations appropriate for all seasons, as well as in recipes, and as gifts. She has designed special Christmas trees for the Williamsburg Inn and has presented workshops, lectures, and demonstrations on making miniatures and seasonal decorations, cooking with herbs, and creating designs for entertaining. The author is a member of the Garden Club of Virginia, the Herb Society of America, and the International Guild of Miniature Artisans.
