The myriad topics include Liberia, Oregon colonization, South Africa, letters on the state of slavery and race relations, poetry, and many more. *** Regarding the portrait, Abdul Rahman Ibrahima ibn Sori was a West African prince and commander who was ambushed by enemies and sold into slavery in 1788, eventually ending up in Mississippi.
