About this Item
A very lucid and commonsensical account of what Joyce was up to, from Dubliners to Finnegan's Wake. This is a near fine/fine copy, and very well preserved despite being ex-library. The green (canvas effect) cloth-bound boards look as good as new - evenly coloured, unfaded and unmarked, with no scratches, dents or bumps; all edges are straight, all corners sharp, and the gilt lettering on the spine remains strong, bright and undiminished. The text block is square and tightly bound, there is some spotting on the top edge but none on the fore and bottom edges. Internally, the pages are clean, bright and unmarked with a small number of exceptions: on the ffep a previous sale price written in pencil; on the title page, a library stamp and some notation (see photo); on the rear paste down, a small area of abrasion. The look and feel of the dust jacket is similarly new: strong, unfaded colours, crisp and stiff to the touch. The original publisher's price (30s.) is still in place.
