Of particular note is the book's emphasis on cattle trade and meat packing in Kansas City as well as rail roads, implement manufacturing, banking, etc. Very nice copy in original brown cloth binding with gilt spine lettering and gilt and black cover decorations. Considered by Adams to be "scarce. " Contains black & white illustrations, maps, etc. -- interesting views of city buildings. A little age toning to pages, expected with this particular book. While there is no indication that it is a first edition, the title page date and the copyright date are both 1886 leading me to believe that this is most likely a first. Ref: Adams, Rampaging Herd, 1082; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 288 pages.
