Published in Sydney, this is the FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1946, in 219 pages, with sepia-toned drawings & profuse full-page plates (many in full color) throughout the text. (Note: OCLC states that there is a 1940 edition by the same publisher, though it has not shown up in the trade). Hardcover small 4to (7.5" x 9.75") has a green cloth-wrapped spine, lettered in black, with decorative paper over boards, which are sunned around all edges. Condition is VG+: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white with modest tanning to edges. Completely unmarked save for old gift inscription in neat pen dated 1947 to verso of ffep. very slight tanning, heavier around edges, but completely unmarked. The unclipped DJ (with "10 s., 6d." price intact to lower front flap) is VG- (minus): bright & colorful, but with rubbing to extremities, heaviest at corners & both ends of spine, sticker pull to center spine.
