Contemporary sheep, gilt-stamped ornament in spine compartments (5 raised bands), gilt-stamped lettering in morocco label in second compartment; 8vo (194x116 mm); pp. [14], 400, [18]. Spine and edges of boards a bit scuffed; a few tiny wormholes on front board. Contents crisp and clean, with nineteenth century armorial bookplate of Baron Gray on front paste-down. Some nice twists on common wisdom, like "The Stone that lies not in your Gate breaks not your Toes" explained as "Spoken against meddling in the Business in which we have no Concern." Duplessis 873 note.
