In three general sections ("Buying Your Dog," "Raising Your Dog Right," and "Living with Your Dog"), the authors ( Successful Dog Breeding ) answer such questions as how to select, care for, breed, and travel with a dog. The question-and-answer format is a matter of reader preference; the index (not seen) should make locating specific information easier. Elizabeth Meriwether Schuler's The Dog Lover's Answer Book ( LJ 11/15/75) is a similar title with more coverage. Walkowicz and Wilcox do present accurate, succinct answers to likely questions, and they write with wit and warmth. If you don't own Schuler's book, consider this title. Susan Matusak, Wilson Coll.
