Condition: VG+. The rare limited manuscript edition of The Complete Works of O. Henry, one of America's most prolific and widely read short story writers, from the golden age of the American short story. This set is #89 of a limited 125. Tall 8vo., handsomely bound in 3/4 midnight blue leather, hubbed spines, all compartments gilt, and ruled in gilt over blue and white marbled boards, endpapers also so marbled. Top edges gilt, uncut sides. This set's manuscript page has been bound into volume 1, "The Four Million." The volumes have the odd small chip here and there to the boards along a few edges, with the board edges and endpaper edges also with some slight tanning, the top edge gilt has had some dust-dulling, there is some very minor wear to the spine edges, and there is a small tear to the side edge of the manuscript page, not affecting the text. Some of the pages are uncut, so never read in its entirety, with the text consequently very clean and bright. A handsome piece of literary history. This is a heavy and bulky set and will require additional shipping.
