First edition hardback with a foreword by Francis Burgess, 1905 (dated preface), with no jacket. In overall very good used condition with only minor signs of age, handling and storage - boards slightly rubbed to edges and a touch faded to spine. Binding tight and appears little read. Internally clean, no annotation or inscriptions - ownership signature and address to reverse of front endpaper; toning to page-ends but text, diagrams, publishers catalogue and period advertisements to rear bright and clear throughout.
