8vo. pp [viii], 237, [5], 224. Contemporary calf worn, front board detached, edges marbled, internally clean. Early signature Sarah Walcot, ex dono patris 1677 (ie. gift from my father). The first part consists of reflections on the philosophy of life: happiness, hope, anger and so on. The second is an essay on the Lord s Prayer. This work was an immediate success, and there were multiple printings in the first year. This example appears to be R228670, though has eight pages of prelims rather than the ten given there. Our prelims are seemingly complete, and run [a1], a2-3, [a4], that is title page, then two leaves preface, then a final prelim leaf with errata (recto), contents (verso). Seller Inventory # D837429
