A rare first edition of 'Conversations with Doctor X', the 1987 chapbook from the legendary British artist, poet, and musician Billy Childish. Published by the influential small press Hangman Books, this work captures the raw, uncompromising voice that has made Childish a cult figure in underground literature and punk culture. This copy is a must-have for collectors of British small press, punk literature, and 1980s avant-garde writing. Its stapled chapbook format, limited circulation, and enduring artistic significance make it highly collectible. Condition: • Cover: Clean with minimal handling wear; bright, vibrant colors; no tears. • Spine: Intact with slight creasing typical of small press chapbooks. • Pages: Crisp, unmarked, no dog-ears or annotations with a few small age-related spots. • Overall: Very good condition for a 1987 small press release. Highlights: • First edition, small press rarity • Essential for collectors of Billy Childish’s literary and artistic output • Represents the British underground scene of the late 1980s • Excellent addition to a poetry or punk literature collection.…

Store description
Disappearing Codex offers a selection of thought-provoking works. Books in this collection have been the power to challenge, illuminate, and inspire. This collection is part of a personal library I am gradually dispersing as I prepare to emigrate in one year. Each copy carries a piece of literary and intellectual history. Browse with confidence, and join me in keeping these provocative works alive and in circulation. Once they're gone, they're gone - much like the name of this store suggests.
