Item description from seller

First edition and printing. In very good minus burgundy coloured cloth boards, with gilt titles to spine. The boards area little loose on top front edge, and flat and quite clean, with slight wear to spine ends. The white end papers are unmarked; there is a bookseller's sticker from William George's Sons Ltd, Bristol on front paste down. The top part of gutter to front end papers has a small split and webbing visible. The text block is illustrated in black and white by Erna Pinner, and there is a fold out 'Calendar of Life'. The pages are firm, even and clean. No dedications etc. Very good condition. Without jacket.

Store description

Clevedon Community Bookshop, co-operatively owned, opened on 31 December 2011 and now has a general stock of approximately 20,000 books. Our Bookshop is in Copse Road in Clevedon and is open every day of the week except Mondays, from 10.30am to 4.30pm. The Bookshop Co-operative comprises nearly 650 members from around the world and was set up to stop the only second-hand bookshop in our town from closing. The benefit of being a member/shareholder is only social: no-one benefits financially. All profits are used to improve the bookshop and its stock, and, through events, to contribute to the literacy and literary profile of our town.
