8vo., First Edition thus, free endpapers mildly browned; pictorial green boards blocked in red, backstrip lightly creased else a very good, bright, clean copy. This collection was specially compiled for Readers' Union by arrangement with the author and Jonathan Cape. The first trade edition did not appear until 1940 and then omitted one story, 'The Palace', which had become the subject of a lawsuit. SCARCE. Eads, A30.
