First American edition. Translated by Roy Campbell. Introduction by Federico de Onís. Jacket by Alvin Lustig. Octavo. 343pp. Yellow cloth stamped in purple. Harvey Swados's copy with his owner name on the front fly, spine lightly toned, cloth foxed, very good in very good dust jacket heavily toned at the spine and folds, with the panels lightly toned and some nicking and a couple of tiny tears along the topedge. Swados was a critic, political activist, journalist and author of novels, short stories and children's literature; his first published novel (*Out Went the Candle*) was published in 1955.
