Cowleaze Farm

First edition, first impression, undated but generally supposed to have been published in 1948. Jacket sadly tatty, with edge wear, chipping, closed tears, creasing and loss to top and bottom of jacket, top third of spine missing, small loss to bottom of spine, corners and folds rubbed with small loss, but jacket quite bright and unsunned, some offsetting to endpapers. Not price clipped (8/6), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a reasonable copy in a poor jacket. 222pp, illustrated. Writer, historian, broadcaster and folklorist Ralph Whitlock (1914-95), originally wrote the popular 'Cowleaze Farm' series for BBC Radio's 'Children's Hour', the twelve chapters in this book demonstrate the farmer's year for children. Quite scarce.
