Housed in the original clamshell cardboard box. All page edges gilt. 352 pp. With full page reproductions of the drawings of Damien Hirst. A catalog to an exhibition of the drawings of Damien Hirst, presenting his preliminary sketches and ideas for works, both finished and unfinished, many with annotations by Hirst. With a short critical essays by Annuska Shani and A.A. Gill. Damien Hirst, a British artist, is associated with the group known as the Young British Artists and known for his installations and sculptures reflecting on mortality and death. VERY GOOD book. Minor scuffing and soiling to the covers. Top front corner bumped. Small superficial abrasion to the first free endpaper in the upper hinge. The box for the book is in GOOD condition, with general scuffing, some soiling and two tears along the top hinge, both about 1 ½ inches in length. Upper right corner bumped and creased. Gold edges to the pageblock. The binding is tight, the edges and corners sharp, and the interior is clean and clear of markings. Still remains in its original shipping clamshell box, which itself is in fine condition, as the previous owner commissioned a specially made archival cardboard clamshell box to protect it. Text: ENGLISH - // Following Damien Hirst`s Biennale Grand Prize, which he was awarded in 2001 for The Last Supper prints, Ljubljana International Biennale of Graphic Arts invited the artist to produce an entirely new show for their 25th Biennale in 2003. In response, Hirst exhibited his first ever exhibition of drawings which, spanning his career, consisted of approximately 100 pieces. Many were sourced from private and public collections and displayed the studious, preliminary and imaginative workings of the artist. A number of drawings dated form his early teenagehood, others were lent by close friends, who had been given personal drawings by the artist. Included in the exhibition were a number of preparatory sketches for later and larger works including paintings and sculptures .
