SIGNED PRESENTATION copy from both the author and editor to Jack Alexander (The Alcoholics Anonymous writer) 12 line inscription from the author and Senate Committee Chairman on the 1951 Crime Investigating hearings, the book has an introduction and was edited by Sidney Shalett he has also signed it to the same person and a 9 line inscription, both signed in full. Blue cloth, slight discolouration top edge near spine, embossed titles in white and red, wrapper splitting at folds of flaps and rubbed and chipped at edges, but nearly all there. page edges are browning a little. Still a nice tight copy. Unique personalised copy. Octavo 1951. *The inside story of corrupt police and the 195+ day Senate Committee inquisition into the Mafia, the crooked judges and politicians of the late 1940's-1950's. All shown on TV and helped spawn a number of 1950's crime TV series. The Democrat Senator for Tennessee won the American peoples trust in the way he conducted the hearings and his clever manipulation to get the crooks to reveal more than intended. he did try for higher office but was unlucky in running mates.
