Black cloth. 8vo. 835pp. Gold printed dust jacket. First edition in English. Translated from the French by Alan Sheridan-Smith. A major philosophical work by Sartre intended as the counterpart and critique of his 1943 treatise "Being and Nothingness". In this work he sets out the basic categories for a renovated theory of history he believed was necessary for post-war Marxism. A very good copy with light wear to the cloth. The text is very good and clean. The jacket has some light rubbing and edgewear.
